Lesson 1
Every coin collection has a unique fingerprint
🔬
Think of it like DNA
Your DNA is unique to you. Change one cell and the whole sequence changes. Kaspa uses a system called MuHash that works the same way — every set of coins produces a unique fingerprint. Add one coin, remove one coin, and the fingerprint completely changes.

An empty collection — zero coins — always produces this exact fingerprint. It's a mathematical constant, like pi:

The fingerprint of "nothing" — zero coins

Remember this number. You're going to see it again at the end.
Lesson 2
What actually happened

Kaspa launched. A bug crashed the network. The developers restarted it from a snapshot. This created two genesis blocks. Both are provable.

Genesis
0 coins
544e...cac0
Nov 7
15 days
Snapshot
648M KAS
710f...8e20
Nov 22
crash
Restart
Same coins
710f...8e20
Nov 25
to today
Now
~27B KAS

Notice the teal fingerprints on the snapshot and restart blocks — they're the same. That proves no coins were added during the restart. And the green fingerprint on the original genesis? That's the "zero coins" number from lesson 1.

📰
Bitcoin as a timestamp
Both genesis blocks contain a Bitcoin block hash inside them — like holding today's newspaper in a photo. It proves they weren't created before those specific Bitcoin blocks existed. The original genesis references Bitcoin block #708,639 (Nov 7, 2021). The restart references #711,295 (Nov 25, 2021). You can look these up on any Bitcoin explorer right now.
Hidden Inside
The message in the genesis block

Like Bitcoin's "Chancellor on brink of second bailout," Kaspa's genesis contains a verse from Ezra 7:18 in Aramaic. The word for "silver" in Aramaic is kaspa — it's in the verse.

ומה די עליך ועל אחיך ייטב בשאר כספא ודהבה למעבד כרעות אלהכם תעבדון
"And whatever seems good to you and your brothers to do with the rest of the silver and gold, do according to the will of your God."
Ezra 7:18 — embedded in both genesis blocks
The Proof
Three things to verify.
Click each one.
1
Is the chain from today back to the restart unbroken?
Chain integrity — today to restart
Every block header contains the hash of the previous checkpoint. Recompute each hash and confirm it matches. If any link breaks, the whole chain is invalid.
2
Were any coins added during the restart?
Snapshot fingerprint = Restart fingerprint
If these two fingerprints are identical, not a single coin was created, destroyed, or moved during the restart. The state was carried over perfectly.
3
Did the network start with zero coins?
Original genesis fingerprint = Empty set
This is it. The original genesis block's UTXO commitment must match the mathematical constant for "zero coins." If it matches, there was no premine.
